Indoor Busy Fun

After a beautiful morning/early afternoon Wednesday — during which the dogs and I spent out in the yard — I was all set for another day just like it. BUT it wasn’t meant to be. After taking Ducky to daycare and going to the grocery store, I could feel that yesterday was going to be one of those dripping-wet-without-a-shower days.

I took Callie and Shadow outside to do their business, and we played with the Kong Bounzers for a little while, but it was just too muggy (and buggy). We came inside to a nice, cool, comfortable house. I wanted to give the girls something to keep them busy while I got caught up on some reading.

Since Callie likes stuffed toys — she likes to make them squeak and drive us humans crazy but is very gentle with them — I pulled one out of the June Petbox (one of those subscription pet supply thingies). It’s a dog that looks sort of like Snoopy from the Peanuts comic strip but with red ears.

Then there’s Shadow. She likes puzzle-type toys, so I bought one from Pet360 a few weeks ago. It’s a tennis ball inside a cage. She had fun with it for a while — figured out how to get the ball out of the cage and then played with it for a few minutes. When all that mental exercise finally got the better of her, she jumped up on the couch for a nap.

So now it’s Friday afternoon. I had to get on the laptop to do a few things, including adding the videos to this post, so I’m doing my “work” while all three dogs take their naps. (Ducky doesn’t go to daycare on Fridays any more – just two days a week now.) We played in the back yard (with the Kong Bounzers again) for a while. Ducky of course had to play “keep away” and she’s faster than I am by a light year, so she mostly ran around the yard with the toy in her mouth. Watching the three of them play out there is one of the true joys in my life, along with watching them sleep at nap time.

What the heck — I’m going to go ahead and link in to the Barks and Bytes Blog Hop hosted by the 2 Brown Dawgs blog and Heart Like A Dog. The linky list doesn’t close until some time tonight, so why not right?. Have a great weekend everyone!!

Yes, they are, thank goodness! Ducky, on the other hand, is at the other extreme…she’s a “talker” (like most Corgis) and a real chatterbox once she gets going. But she’s a sweet little girl. I was a chatterbox too once my parents sent me to nursery school. LOL

I love what you said about watching the dogs play being one of your joys in life. Whenever I am outside playing with the dogs, I always have a smile on my face.
I love that tennis ball in the cage toy….Sheba and Luke would love that, so I might have to get one. The weather is bound to turn really hot soon so we need some indoor plans too.

I love watching my dogs play too! Scout has slowed down so much and doesn’t play a whole lot. It makes me sad. Diesel and Ash love to play and Teddy tries to get in on the action. Our dogs bring so much joy to our lives!
