BARKBOX – THE PRODUCT AND THE APP
Ducky’s first BarkBox arrived yesterday! I opened it to see what “goodies” they sent for our inaugural box. Ducky will get to check it out tomorrow, when she gets home from daycare; but I wanted to let y’all know what’s waiting for her.
The contents of the box. There’s a “Loopie” in the shape and size of a big, ole stinky cigar. “Stoggies are endlessly amusing, great for retrieving and chewing…” Whether or not Ducky will agree is yet to be seen. Then there’s a Barkworthies junior bully stick. She will probably like that. And there are three different treat and/or meal mix items. One looks like cheesey popcorn, the second is a heart-shaped lamb-based treat, and the third is a mix that you add to lean chopmeat and an egg to make mini meatballs that are baked in the oven. I might use that stuff this weekend for all three girls.
About the mobile app: Let me tell you that if you love BarkBox and you haven’t installed the mobile app to your device yet DON’T BOTHER. It’s a good thing it was free, because it’s totally useless. I suppose I should have paid attention to the negative reviews; but I’ve found that more often than not the reviews are written in a moment of anger and frustration. Well, this time, all those negative reviews are spot on.
FUN IN THE SNOW LAST WEEK
Last week’s crazy weather just totally screwed up my routine. On Monday it was cold, but we had some sunshine and Sam was home. (He had taken the previous Friday as well as Monday as vacation days to make a four-day weekend as a birthday present to himself.) Then Tuesday came. It started out partly cloudy and cold, but no precipitation. Ducky spent her three hours at daycare while Callie, Shadow, and I played with the indoor Chuck-it toy and chilled-out watching a movie. Sam came home an hour early, ahead of the heavier snowfall. And spent the next two days at home.
I took the dogs out in the yard on Wednesday afternoon — it was still a light fluffy snow until around three o’clock — and let them run around a bit. Here are some pix. Note that we only got about 3 inches of the white stuff, not the 8-12 inches they’d been predicting.
Wednesday night’s treks out to the yard for potty breaks were treacherous. The sleet covered the snow and turned the yard into a giant skating rink. NOT FUN! Even with my heavy snow boots, I had a hard time keeping myself from slipping and sliding. And poor Callie almost fell a few times. Shadow and Ducky were a bit more sure-footed, but they were happy to come back onto the porch too. Thursday morning, Callie slipped on the ice and landed on her good rear leg. Bless her heart! But she got right back up and walked to the back door without a limp. I kept a close eye on her the rest of the day; but there were no signs of discomfort or pain. She didn’t do any damage. Thank doG!!
MAKING UP LOST TIME
I spent this week trying to make up the lost time — three, make that four, different appointments that had to be rescheduled, cleaning the house, and reading emails that I couldn’t read while Sam was home…no details, you don’t want to hear them anyway. Thank goodness for doggie daycare! Ducky had a blast playing with her friends, and her older sisters enjoyed having me to themselves all day. They don’t care if I’m cleaning house or reading, as long as they can be relatively close to my side. But we did get in a few games of fetch/keep away from Mom out in the yard. It was time well spent, but I didn’t get to post ANYTHING to my blog as I had been planning to do. Oh well. That’s life, my Golden Life.
So, those are my barks for this week. Yes, I know I’m a day behind, but that’s the way my whole week has gone. Want to read more great stories?
