When I first saw the idea for this blog hop last week on Heart Like A Dog, I thought it was a great idea! I still do. But WordPress is giving me fits — not because of my blog per se, but because they want me to set up “two-step authentication” of my account (to supposedly make my account more secure). I mean, really, in this world of techie geeks who can crack government and finance company security codes, what makes WordPress think they’re going to make my (or anyone else’s) account more secure? But I digress, so without further ado I present my version of the “Meet the Bloggers”.
Here I am in all my grey-haired glory. This picture was taken about 3 years ago, when I first got my laptop, but nothing’s changed at all. I don’t even look any older.
Now, on to the questions….
What’s your favorite non-animal related book?
Traitor to His Class – it’s about FDR.
What’s your favorite non-animal related movie?
That’s a tough one — I have so many favorite movies, depending on my mood!
What’s your favorite non-animal related food?
Who’s your favorite actor?
Another toughie, but if I have to pick just one, I’d have to say Sean Connery. He IS “James Bond” in my eyes, and always will be the only one.
What’s one thing you have to do every day?
Besides the obvious, the one thing I have to do every day — several times a day — is get my dose of puppy kisses from Callie, Shadow, and Ducky.
What makes you feel fabulous?
Just being alive. I learned a L.O.N.G. time ago that nothing else matters as much in this world as just being alive.
What do you wish you were more skilled at?
Figuring out what the **** happened to my laptop two weeks ago.
What’s your favorite holiday?
Christmas, I guess; but it just doesn’t seem the same without my Dad.
Sauerbraten, Dumplings, and Red Cabbage at my favorite German restaurant. It’s to die for, especially if you’re like me and don’t particularly like to cook.
What do you like to do in your free time?
PLAY WITH MY DOGS, read, and watch a good movie…in that order. Sometimes I play with the dogs while I watch a movie.
What one word would people who know you use to describe you?
People who REALLY know me, or people who THINK they know me? Those who really know me would say “loyal”. People who only think they know me? It depends on whether they like me or not, I guess.
If your pets could talk, what one word would THEY use to describe you?
“Disciplinarian” — Well, somebody has to be! Hubby would spoil them with all the crap that’s not good for them, like bits of chocolate, human cookies, microwave popcorn (ugh!), etc., if I weren’t around to stop him.
What is one thing you’ve done that you’re most proud of?
Became a certified (by the Animal Behavior College) dog obedience trainer.
How is your pet most like you?
Now that’s tough! With all of them being very quick to pick up on my energy — good or bad — they will often show their like or dislike for certain people very quickly. And I tend to “wear my heart on my sleeve” at times.
What can your body do for you that makes you most proud?
I have NO IDEA how to answer this one!
If you could change one thing about your life what would it be?
Well, since our life experiences make us who we are, I’m not sure I would change anything. I’m pretty happy with who I am at this stage of my life.
Other than blogging, what are three things you do that bring you joy?
Playing with the dogs
Spending time with hubby
Spending quiet time by myself to “recharge”
What’s one thing you could do to be more kind to yourself?
Stop trying to control certain things. (I won’t go into detail here though.)
What drives you nuts about your pets?
When they howl at train whistles or sirens while they’re inside the house. (We have a very small house and I have very sensitive ears.)
What melts your heart?
The way they play together and show each other affection.
If you didn’t have your current pets, what pets would you choose to have?
I’d still have dogs. I can’t imagine my life without at least one dog sharing it.
Come on and join in the fun! I will warn you, participation may end in gaining many new friends who share the same fears. It’s a risk you’ll have to be willing to take. Don’t forget, if you give yourself permission to be unapologetically you, it encourages others to do the same and who knows what the fall out might be…
