Sunday Calm Equals ?

20130407-234516.jpg

It was a peaceful, calm Sunday around our house for a change! NO arguments between the youngest and middle fur-kids.

Okay, so the youngest started growling at the middle one over a ball. BUT, I took her into the bathroom – away from the object of her obsession – and kept her in there long enough to calm down. When we came out of the bathroom, there was Shadow waiting for us. She dropped the ball in front of Ducky – like a peace offering – and walked back into the living room. I was SO proud of Shadow!! And Ducky left the ball where Shadow had dropped it and followed her into the living room. I wished instantly I could have caught it all on a video clip! My maternal pride is bursting like fireworks on the 4th of July!

I couldn’t resist sharing this today! After all, who knows what tomorrow may bring?  (Cleaning the house is what it brought — that’s my version of mischief — and Ducky back at daycare.  Have to get back to studying!)

That’s good progress!! This reminded me of something. We have a rambunctious golden retriever in our Nose work class (Ernie) Ernie’s mom stands by the door and when Ernie starts barking at the other dogs in class, she puts him on the other side of the door for a few minutes. He’s on leash of course, it seems to help him calm down a little quicker. 🙂

Ducky seems to understand the “chill out” action; but hasn’t grasped “quiet” yet. At times I think she has, but then something will get her going again. Thank God the other two are older and more settled!
